I'm trying to make a soldier/town guard looking character. You guys know how in movies there's that one verteran guard/soldier who wears the uniform, but it's slightly changed? Maybe he has an extra piece of armour, or another sword. That's the dude I wanna play for my new character.

Assuming I'm building this costume from the ground up, what do you guys think I should get first? What do you guys think I'll need? Any inspo?

I know what I want it to look like, but I'm not quite sure how to start implementing it. My costumes were always absolute trash tier, and only worked because the people around me were excellent, and some sort of LARP cheerleader effect.

I'm thinking grey tabard and cloth hood/cap with my factions colours will be the first step.
