Yeah, once lolita started to really turn into a popularity contest, it seems like the appeal of skirts dropped massively. Most of the people I see wearing skirts tend to be more daily lolitas, because it's a lot easier to wear them casually, and you can wear a single skirt in a nearly infinite number of way with the right combinations of blouse and accessories. Since a lot of lolitas these days only really wear it to meets or cons, it makes sense that they'd want to be as extravagant as possible, and it doesn't matter if the dress can only really be worn in a single way.

i think it's because of the letters. like she's supposed to be the postmaster or something.
also iirc this print sold on lacemarket for like a CRAZY high price. so i kind of suspect that she wanted to do a really attention-grabbing coordinate like 'oh, look at this very rare, expensive print that i own' but it looks way better in a coord like pic related, which accentuates the print with simpler accessories and seems to 'flow' much better as a result.
