Sometimes you can find local kimono groups, same way as there are lolita comms. Generally someone (or you) can organise a kimono meetup for like tea and sweets, or do a group trip to anything Japanesey that's happening near you.

The only issue is how to find the groups. My own kimono group was mostly recruited by the girl who started it. There was a thing called kimono de jack a few years ago but I don't know if it's still active. The other option is looking for Immortal Geisha's FB page, and then asking on there if there's anyone near you.

Just treat it like fabric and make whatever you want out of it. Like did you see the top three images are all western-style dresses made from kimono fabric.

If your fabric is too stiff for a dress then you can make totebags, tissue box covers, coasters/placemats, brush/penholders, quilts, etc etc, anything that you can make with non-kimono silk fabric, really.
