I'm trying to make a Vash The Stampede jacket for one of my friends for a convention sometime next year and I could use some helpful hints. I want the jacket to look almost exactly like the one from the figure picture here, but I'm not sure what to do patterning-wise. I know I'll have to probably make it in three different parts (The collar, the actual jacket, and the long train of buttoned fabric in the front) and I have the measurements I need for the long buttoned part and a Matrix Jacket pattern as a base, but I'm not very good at making my own patterns from things, and the collar is going to have to be patterned from scratch most likely. I also don't really know how to weather or wear fabric and the closest thing I've done to it is bleaching a pair of overalls for fading...And I've never worked with leather or pleather extensively before so I have no idea how to like, work it.

I've tried looking up patterns for Vash jackets online and they just don't look the same or are crazy expensive. I know this is a long list of 'i don't know how to do these things' but I'm still learning how to make things come out not only looking nice but feeling nice, and I figured coming here and asking for some hints would probably help me more than anything I've done so far.
