So is this a shit con or what?

This is my first time going (this con or any major con really) - staying for the weekend with friends. Are people shitting on it because it's not up to snuff with the AAA massive cons or is it a good time?

I'm just looking to do some gaming, buy some manga, and check out some (hopefully fun) night time events. Maybe see a panel or two. I don't cosplay but I genuinely love seeing and learning about other people's cosplays.

It sounds like it's mis-managed as fuck, not sure how such a (relatively) large and experienced event can't keep it together. Or is it just a bit looser than the huge well-oiled machine mega cons on the coasts?

I read something about the tournaments being down graded which is pretty disappointing because I'm an active (and shit) member of the MI smash scene - will the game room be dead, or just more casual? I'm fine with casual as long as there's people.

I'm not going to bitch out about "wasting money." I'm an adult and have plenty of money - I'm more concerned about it being genuinely fun time, I know this isn't the San Diego ComicCon but if I'm in for a tiny, shitty, uncontrollable clusterfuck then I'd like to manage my expectations.
