My first dress was Bodyline's infamous "Squirrel Party" JSK. I had done a bit of research and thought I was going to be more into sweet lolita, so I figured buying a cheaper piece from Bodyline with a print I liked (I'm a sucker for squirrels, really) would be a good way to test the waters.
While I still like that print, I only wore the dress twice and sold it several months ago. The lace and other details really killed it for me.

A couple of months after my BL purchase, I bought this AP dress for around $80 on Fururun, and I couldn't be happier with my first brand purchase. It's simple but not boring, is incredibly comfortable, and it doesn't wrinkle very much, even when stored. I've bought many pieces since, but this is still one of my favorites for just running errands or lounging around in.

So, overall my first dress purchases were actually rather pleasant. BL was more disappointing than I expected, but the print was still cute and nice enough to go to a meet in. I'm glad I didn't have a DoL or Milanoo nightmare experience for my first lolita dress.
