Good for you, anon! I'm in a similar situation where I recently became able to start building my wardrobe for real which led to my boyfriend and I kind of discovering the true extent of each other's powerlevel. He thought I had none at all and I thought his had mostly blown over but it turns out he kind of likes the idea of having a girlfriend who dresses like his Chinese cartoons. Problem is, I like classic while his preferences lean towards animeish ~gosurori~ and maid costumes. Oh well, it's better than nothing. If he ever shows signs of wanting to buy me something as a present I'll try to nudge him towards good quality oldschool stuff and hope for the best.
