/cgl/ - Cosplay & EGL

Until now I was pretty much on the costume side of larp, using historical reconstitution, airsoft and hema gear to make my kit, and picking mostly standard human faction.

Due to a change of mindset, I want to do some more original things, now.
But how do people without a level in cosplay do fantasy/SF races makeup without looking like crap ?

Is there help to be found somewhere when your level is zero ? I mean, I already got a silicone cheap prostetic ear to try, but the color is off. how am I suposed to find my skin color to paint it ?
