The issue that comes in is that white guys who do this with normal hair look very out of place, too. They don't look young/feminine enough (something that isn't at all necessary for, say, steampunk, but is for Ouji) because they just look like regular white guys. Girls, on the other hand, pull it off with even normal haircuts (or slightly "boyish" haircuts) because their natural femininity allows for it.
Here's an example of a girl with a non-VK haircut (there are plenty of examples above of girls with them, of course). You'll find that the reason I spoke of above is a large factor in why it looks alright.

I -do- have a couple of examples of guys with more normal haircuts pulling the look off decently, though, so I may dump them in a second

When did Bodyline get so many new Boystyle clothes that aren't cosplay? There are so many in the Punk section.
