>>If you had the time and skill to make your own Lolita wardrobe would you?

That's more-or-less what I'm planning on doing. I used to be the biggest brand whore, but then the economy tanked, I lost my job and had to sell nearly everything to pay some unexpected expenses. It's been a few years since I've worn Lolita and I'm wanting to get back into it. I plan on making a bunch of basic skirts, cutsews, accessories and dresses for everyday use and save big brand purchases for special items. The rest I'll get offbrand or from places like Taobao.

>>What would it be like?
I want a versatile gothic lolita/aristocrat wardrobe and full of elegant, simple pieces with clean lines, structured shapes bold accessories. (Pic related; I love everything on the flaasco blog.) It would mostly be black with a few hints of bordeaux and some dark jewel tones. Also, I've noticed that I tend to look best in a skirt with a corset/jacket/vest/bustier rather than most dresses, so I'd probably have a lot of those kinds of items.

>>Are there certain kind of brand items you just can't do without?
Mostly, a handful of specific items that would be hard to find off brand, on Taobao or get commissioned at a reasonable price. Example: lots of the corsets, jackets and vests made by labels like BPN, Excentrique, Atelier Boz/Pierrot. There are also a few items that I've taken a strong liking to and would like to buy from the brands themselves.
