>be me, taking a hiatus from lolita because life happened
>new town, no friends
>meet this normie guy and we start dating
>literally the kindest, most thoughtful person i've ever met in my life
>totally unlike my abusive ex
>makes me laugh all the time
>also fit
>fuck, what if he thinks my dormant chinese pinafore collection is weird?
>gradually bring up the fashion and show him a few dresses
>"you should wear it!"
>decide to wear lolita on a picnic with him
>says i look incredibly cute and encourages me to wear it more
>he wouldn't even mind if i was a daily lolita
>mfw i thought he would be embarrassed around me but "all [he wants] is to see [me] smile"

Guys I found The One and it's a gotdamn normie

What advice would you give a beginner lolita? What would you like to give yourself shit for however many years in the past?

Personally, I'd say to always keep bandaids and a spare pair of comfy shoes on you if yours are questionable. Before you leave the house, put a bandaid between the back of your ankle and the lip of your shoe to stop blisters. Also, wear new shoes around the house to break them in.

your identity shouldn't matter at all, anon.
you should join the comm, read the rules, and talk to a few members in the facebook or whatever the platform is. lolita communities are about fashion. if you are serious about the fashion and looking beautiful and put-together with other enthusiasts you should be good. just be mindful of your behavior. there are certain pitfalls ahead if you're not in consistent analysis of how your early socialization might affect you growing connections in the comm. Let everything you do come from joy and respect for yourself and others and you should be fine!

>work in office
>desk job
>want to wear lolita at least once a week
>dress code rules outlined in policy are minimal
>wear blkxwhite coord to work, no issues or negative reactions
>get pulled aside a month later by supervisor
>anon, I've gotten some complaints that you wore a french maid costume to work
>fuming
>explain the fashion again and assure her it wasn't a sexy costumeholyshit
>feeling bummed but try to compromise
>wear softer poof old school coords
>get told someone has complained again, specifically about lace headdresses
>am stumped as to what the problem is, other than looking different
>go to head of organization for dress code clarification, assuming he was the one that had the issue
>get official word from top-dog that he actually has no issues with my coords, thinks they are fine
>celebrate by wearing lolita again
>supervisor tells me the next day that someone feels it's "too dressed up" for the office
>absolute dumbest shit ever uttered and wouldn't hold up if this took a legal turn
>revisit dress code in policy just to be sure:
>only says clothes worn cannot be ripped, torn, or dirty
>feel bullied
>be completely discouraged and bitter, stop wearing lolita to work
>1/2 year passes
>wear classic for the two special events we have in the fall
>board of directors and other guests (non-coworkers) at events love my coords
>say they look forward to seeing what I wear each event
>feelsgood.jpg
>fast forward to today
>board member calls, says he is stopping by office today
>asks if I'm wearing a christmas outfit
>tell him nope, wearing it tomorrow
>he is actually disappointed
>asks me to send him and other board members a picture of the coord I wear.

I couldn't believe it! This really cheered me up. There's really nothing wrong with my old school coords. Some salty normie coworker is just trying to enforce her own dress code. Too bad, jerkface.

first thing I noticed was that HK lunchbox because I have the exact same one. I already know I'm going to enjoy this!
I've always found myself eagerly waiting for her coord detail shots at the end of LWLN installments. I'm really looking forward to seeing her gush about her pieces.
