This thread was inspired by people who I've noticed constantly try to sabotage the fursuit/mascot threads, and also by some debate I noticed in that new animegao thread.

Why does it seem as if non-traditional costumes aren't respected by some in the community? These can include fursuits, mechas, mascots, etc. You'd think in a community that praises creativity and craftsmanship, costumes like these would be held in a high regard due to their relatively high skill level needed to create. Yet there are those that don't even want to see discussion of them on this board, often with no other reason than them not personally liking it. Since any skilled costumer should be able to appreciate the artistic merit required to make costumes like this, can we assume that those who are against these costumes aren't cosplayers themselves, but rather the type of person that sees cosplay as nothing more than a means to an ejaculatory end? Or possibly, could some of them be "traditional" cosplayers (e.g. outfit+wig+makeup) who feel threatened by these costumers?

Of course, this isn't to say that all traditional cosplayers are jealous of non-traditional costumes, or that all 'patreon donators' can't respect these costumes. Rather, this only servers to brings up two groups who could potentially contain some members that are against non-traditional cosplay, in an attempt to find a reason for the vitriol occasionally thrown at these costumes. What do you guys think?
