After two coats of plastidip. Primer is drying right now. I can't put on the last flat iron layer of paint today,because its dark outside now

Yeah, the construction was... not very sound. The strap itself is also only held in by a hand width strip of foam, so that would have been the next thing to break. I reinforced it with a small piece of wood.

He's a friend so I am not asking for anything. If he wants to tip me, that'd be nice but I dont expect it

I honestly do not want to shame and bash the guy who made that "shield". I hope he sees what I made out of it and thinks to himself "Yeah, maybe I really should have put a lot more effort into this."
If he were to contact me and ask for advice, I'd gladly teach him. Makes our LARP better and saves future people from being ripped of (as badly)
I am kinda more annoyed at our friend for effectively wasting $100, instead of coming to me in the first place. Now he's short a hundred bucks and I STILL have to make a shield for him.
