I like everything up to like... the last 4 or 5 episodes. Fuck I'm going to go dig out my old dusty DVD boxset... Escaflowne and Eureka Seven are the ONLY anime I still own.

The ending actually reminds me of the Golden Compass book series (His Dark Materials). Man it was so good, I was so into it, then BAM cop-out you can never be together because fate or some shit ending. Just like fucking Escaflowne. Pic related, how I felt at the end of Escaflowne.

For some reason I felt like the movie handled it better even though it was technically the same.
