It's just trends. The market is the same, but what the people are interested in is different.

Right now the American stores mostly cater to club kids with bright neon colors, hippies with bohemian tribal motifs, and the normal kids with normal pink/sparkly delicate items.

Alternative gothic/darker fashion isn't exactly trending right now in America.
