I've been looking for some suggestions, so here it goes:

I've been planning on making Shiro's (Deadman Wonderland) bodysuit from scratch, but I've had a roadblock in a minor detail or two, one of which I want to get someone's opinion.

With the red design on her bodysuit (pic related), should I paint them on or should I bite the bullet and try to sew them on and cut through the white spandex so that the design comes through underneath?

I have some experience with spandex and making bodysuits, but I usually crossplay so getting the design in the right places (cough the boob) eludes me.

Any tips or help is very appreciated!
