in a lot of places it is delivered to a post office close to you, and you need the number and ID to pick it up.

Next year I will definitely try match within the EU. My santa is very far away and shipped really close to the deadline, so while it's not against the rules, it still feels pretty bad to not receive my gift yet when it's already so far past Christmas. Especially since I shipped mine early and it arrived/was posted before the holidays.
