>been sewing for many years
>knew the basics but always rushed projects
>never took the time to read up on proper techniques
>post completed projects on Facebook and get positive comments
>rarely wear the pieces because of rushed errors
>decide to finally get serious about sewing this summer
>read the manual to my sewing machine front to back
>fixed all the errors on my previous pieces
>made a few dresses from scratch

>fast forward a few weeks
>started first year of professional school
>confident enough to wear my handmade clothing to school
>always get compliments on them from my peers
>wear dress I made over the summer to orientation ceremony
>next day a few classmates ask if I made the dress
>receive the nicest, most genuine compliments on the dress from them

This is such a great feeling. I don't understand why I felt like I was too good to actually research how to do techniques; I guess it just comes with age. I love all my handmade pieces now and I love how easily I can incorporate them into my wardrobe.
