On a lot of the taobao costumes the shorts are waaaaay too long and make it really hard to make the costume look right, pic related.

If I have the shirt tucked in with the shorts sitting where I usually have them, it looks like old man pants. If I have them at my hips like in the anime, the shorts come past my knees. It might just be because I'm short as hell though

My friend who cosplays Oikawa however, the shorts that came with her costume are the right length so she can tuck her shirt in
