I meant to add that I don't think people are just absent-mindedly jumping on the bandwagon either, the perception of what is considered beautiful has shifted, which in turn slowly and almost insidiously influences public perception and no one is immune to it. You only need to look at historical paintings of 'beauties' across different eras to see how the concept of beauty has shifted. They loved 'weak round chins' in the early 17th century for example.
