well for me one of the most important things is campfires. That you can legally make campfires even if it's a drought or something. It really ads to the atmosphere and even post game discussions are better.

Also what really worked for us to tie together the people in the community is when they themselves built the in game "buildings" and changed the landscape.
Although that's probably not a possibility for you guys
