I really like the Laughing Moon patterns because they expect them to be worn functionally and know you'll need a fitting or two and to make adjustments for a perfect fit.

The Simplicity and other popular brand corset patterns are closer to 'mimics' of corsets in that they do replicate a certain look fairly well but are not patterned to be altered easily or to be used for reduction. They're just costume design pieces.

Here's a pic of my most recently made corset which gave me decent shape (I'm an apple unfortunately) while still being incredibly comfortable.

As for covering corsets I'm sure it can be done easily, but they really are not hard to make with a decent pattern and I'd encourage people to check it out because custom corsets always look and work so much better and are affordable to make yourself.
