I'm almost sure they just heard out the people crying about crosses on Charlotte's Bear, so they did a print in simialr aestethic with similar mascotes, yet turned it into all-over print to make it more different. It's actually really cool if my assumption is right, but idk if this version will beat CB in popularity.

I agree that AP prints have been mainly washed out cliched clip art trash for years. But there are some exceptions.
