/cgl/ - Cosplay & EGL

For someone entirely new to cosplay, is something like this reasonable? I'm not in a rush so I can spend time trying to get it right, not sure what would be the best approach for the shirt/pants here, just the white shirt/pants with the black patterns sewed on? Looking for suggestions/advice.

I've seen a few cosplays online and everyone also seems to paint the chinstrap, I could grow it myself but wondering if it'd look better (worst case I just paint it myself as well).
