- Dark colors recede. The shirt or cardigan on your shoulders should always be darker or the same color as the body. No light colored tops with darker aprons over them, no light colored cardigans over darker dresses.

- Watch the collars. I hate adding bulk to my neck, YMMV but black mock neck or stand collars are the only types I like.

- Waistless and drop waist dresses. Nothing with a defined waist bc it will make your top half look like a box. Princess seam (pic related) is what it's called when the waistless dresses are tailored to your body with vertical lines, which is what you want if you have boobs or a butt. Otherwise you will look lumpy under waistless dresses.

- Cap sleeves (not puffy) for short sleeves. Cheongsam/Chinese inspired dresses are good for this.

- Someone already said it but long sleeves should be poofy or otherwise wider past the elbow. Lantern, bishop, bubble, bell etc.
