It's a good deal more complicated than that.

To preface, we have a flat rule about zero tolerance or usage of swastikas, no matter the period or culture. We are a not-for-profit educational organization, and cannot risk any association whatsoever. Furthermore as of late we have been seeing a rise in our country of Neo-Nazi and fascist groups not only marching and protesting, but committing violent crimes and even killing people. In their public displays they have been carrying medieval shields and of course wearing such symbols. This has been a hard time for medieval recreation.

Several months ago, the upcoming president of a multi-state branch commissioned three meters of the 5th century Snartemo V trim. At the time of its production many people raised concerns over the fact that the design not only resembles swastika is but also contains double H designs commonly used by Neo-Nazi and fascist groups. When these concerns were mentioned the president and the Weaver made derisive comments, as well as the Weaver making a joke about "rainbow-colored genocide".

Several months later, the president and his wife at a very public event or Garb with the trim in question. There are now photos of the leadership of a branch of our club during this time, wearing swastikas and double H symbols. The event also happened to coincide with Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Obviously, this caused a bit of a public up roar. In response to this the president in question released a public statement that was a non apology about people being offended. This is what brought it to corporate attention.

What this all boils down to is not only did they handle this in a very tasteless fashion, but they knew that this was going to be a problem and continued anyways.

They have since voluntarily abdicated the leadership position.
