0048 was based on real idols, which was ridiculously cool, plus had AKB's actual music which is already super popular, and it was voiced by real idols. You can't say AKB fans thought it was garbage because AKB fans will literally buy anything that has their favorite girls in it, and with Mayuyu voicing Chieri, Aki-p laughed all the way to the bank.
