Buy a tin of contact glue rather than tubes. Gamma sells 750ml of bison kit for €16, which is way cheaper than the €7 for a tube of 100ml. Alternatively you can look for off-brand contact glue, and if I recall correctly PVC cement can be used as well. But whatever you do, don't use hot glue unless you feel like picking up pieces of your costume everywhere.
