I guess the whole idea that lolita dresses need to be at the knee came from all the lolita rules people made back in the day to help newbies. Kinda like black/white = ita. Before then, there were tons of cute shorter dress coords that were super cute. I still think it's really cute, and I think overall the idea of having to add an underskirt it dumb. Underskirts don't always go with every dress, plus they add another layer and make the outfit feel more OTT.

Overly sweet maid coord for today. Too bad the ribbon braiding looks so plain even though I worked so hard on it.
Everything is Angelic Pretty but the wrist cuffs are handmade.
