So what are people's thoughts on modifying the "official" palettes of a costume to look more cohesive? I know people have commented on the fact that colour isn't always consistent (Neptune's palettes being the chief example cited), but I mean changing something completely.

I really want to do a Black Lady/Wicked Lady cosplay (manga version of the dress), but her design is just so clashing. You have the black-shot wine red dress with hot pink lining and shawl, and a royal blue/purple trim, all under a pale pink wig. It really is just a giant mess.
