Totally depends on what you want.
Alcohol activated paints are amazing.
I use Reel Creations colour pots (diluted or brushed directly) it's very light but you do get a better effect with an airbrush. When hand brushed it's very glossy.
An even tougher form of this kind of paint is Latona's. It's close to PAX but still easier to remove- as durable while wearing.
I have done (full body) PAX before and it feels like you are wrapped in saran/Gladwrap. It can also warm up and stick to other surfaces. But it is brilliant for on latex prostethics and the PA is you go to glue for bald caps and blending appliances.
I started using AA paint as my Shaak Ti costume needed red body/hands and a white mask effect. The red in any other medium always smeared under any circumstance. And that is not a colour you want transfered on to kids when you are saying hello a a jedi...

Best used as a solid base and use water based/pan over the top so you can blend with a little water. AA paints don't readily blend to create markings or blush or other tone-tone effects.

I'm currently using the mix used for Elphaba on Broadway. This is washed skin, primer, foundation (very important and make sure primer and foundation stick!), MAC Chromacake, Kryolan TV Stick, peal pigments, setting powder.
It's weird and going on weird but feels nice. Very splashy.
I mention as they also use mesh sleeves for the actress so it is possible to get the right fabric to replace paint but experiment with how it looks under different lights.

Been working with silicone effects too, now they are bot fun to paint!
