>On the way to dress rehearsal, her prop breaks off. She runs to the bathroom and cries
>I laugh. And laugh and laugh.
>I don't laugh to her face or in front of anyone else in my group of course, but WHAT THE HELL DID YOU THINK WAS GONNA HAPPEN? Of course it broke off.
>Everyone looks to me to magically solve this since I'm the leader
>Aw man, seriously? I'm so passed caring at this point. I've done most of the work for this, I've given out good advice that was clearly ignored, I just don't care.
>But I find a solution, we drag her out of the bathroom, and eventually it's our turn to perform for real
>Our skit is real easy. A bit of talking, some extremely straight-forward fights, the end.
>I have choreographed this so during the fights punches and kicks are on the beat. The very obvious, very heavy beat. We practiced this a hundred times.
>Halfway through the skit I'm supposed to be beaten by my opponent (college boy), but the cues come and… he stands there. Another cue and… still standing. About fifteen seconds go by and he just stand there.
>He finally hits me on the last beat, and the skit goes on well enough, but what the hell was that?
>We get off stage and college girl excited runs up to us "GUYS WE WERE AH-MAY-ZING!!! This is what happens when we all work hard!"
>OH SCREW YOU, all you did was make a costume (that fell apart and I had to find a way to help you fix) and spin a couple times on stage. I did most of the goddamn work
>"Let's do ____ series for our skit next year!" Hahahaha, lol no, you guys are on your own
>I was so soured by the whole thing, I haven't competed since
I was really hoping she would compete the next year and see her fail miserably when I'm not holding her goddamn hand and leading her down the goddamn path I paved, but she didn't end up competing for a few years. But… next time she did compete (with pretty much a glorified walk-on) she ended up taking best in show, so no petty revenge for petty ol' me.
