Going back to the idea that taobao is stuff that only looks good for photos and looks blah irl. I tried very hard to show you this, but I don’t think it shows up in photos.

On the left is the matching headdress for Pardmimenan. On the right is a bracelet from AP.

irl the Pardimmenan one looks so much duller. I had a shock when I took it out of the bag, the actual glass beads are decent-ish, but the metal is so dull and looks so cheap, the entire thing takes on a dollar-store look. In contrast, AP made some very good judgement calls, they used pearls with a much warmer tint (you can see even in photos AP’s pearls are almost peach-white), and while they cheated with using chemical-coated plastic beads, they also used a much shinier metal. Seriously if you can see it in real life, you’d have no doubt, AP jewellery just looks ten times better.

Of course, you can argue that these details aren’t worth burando price, the beads AP uses are even plastic. But that doesn’t change that when you actually show up to a meetup irl, your taobao stuff may end up seated right next to some girl wearing a slightly nicer dress that doesn’t have white pulled threads or lace that only matches if you stand in the right light, and she won’t be wearing dollar-store-looking pearl chains that only looks good in photos. In real life when you show up to a meetup you can see every single one of these flaws I mentioned.
