I need some help! My sister wants to cosplay for a con coming up, and she says she wants to be Nightbird from Glee. I don't watch Glee, but apparently this is him.

Does anyone know what the equipment on his chest is? I'm assuming it's some sort of sports padding 'cause the show is about highschool. Anyone have a clue? She seemed really excited when she asked if I could make it.
