Let's start an inspiration thread - what are some huge or painfully elaborate cosplays you've run across? There's already a Sakizou thread up, so bonus points for less known designs.

Analyze your crafting abilities first, and choose a design that can best bring our your best qualities.

It depends on which comps you're attempting, since sometimes there's cosplays that can be really ornate and have a good design, but are complete shit up close because the costume was too much or too hard to nail right. If you pick an impressive design but don't deliver, you're kind of asking for too much.

I've seen some really unexpected cosplay choices that have won because of really tight craftsmanship and great presentation of people's skills. And if you're choosing to focus on performance, think of a design that meets what you're looking to get out of your skit.

To contribute to the thread, I've always been fond of seeing Granado Espada cosplays take the stage when really well made.
