>be 11 year old me, about to go to my first anime convention
>i know jack shit about cosplay, never done it before in my life
>i wanna cosplay amu hinamori from shugo chara
>about 2 weeks before the convention in question
>i explain this whole cosplay thing to my mom, she doesn't really get it but she gets all the stuff for me anyway because i cant afford shit as an 11 year old with no allowance
>this is where the horror begins
>blazer and shirt are okay, everything else is absolutely awful
>mom says wigs are expensive, she buys pink party city hair dye for me to use instead
>no classic X hair clip because i'm fucked for time
>plaid tie has a random decal on it that i didn't know how to take off
>buy a knee length plaid skirt and plan to attempt to cut it short and use the remaining fabric to make leg warmers
>of course the skirt ends up too short and the leg warmers are like four inches long. mom makes me wear shorts under the skirt so nobody takes pantsu shots of me
>my grandmother is in town the night before and shes very confused and vaguely disappointed as we finish piecing this monster together
>my mom does my makeup the day of, i ask her to do the fucking white shit under the eyes technique because she wont let me get circle lenses
>i look like somebody's guitar hero OC
>get to the con, weeb out and blow $100 bucks on wood swords and hats
>i come home, EVERYTHING is stained pink
>the inside of my new hat is pink. my white shirt is pink. my fucking sheets are pink because i didnt wash the stuff out completely when i went to bed

i have nightmares about that cosplay to this day
