>Work in the manga industry
>See someone ranting about something based on incorrect information
>Try to correct them as kindly as possible so not set them off
>"HOW WOULD YOU KNOW?"
>Well, it's… my job…
>"Oh… well I guess you're just trying to make stuff up to cover your own ass!"
And if I don't tell them it's my job, they just assume I'm spouting shit. I don't want them perpetuating ignorance, but I don't know why I try when those are always the outcome. The worst part is half the time they talk about misconceptions I believed when I was a wee weeb. It's like trying to correct my own stupid, bull-headed, teenage self.

This one doesn't happen nearly as often, but it's happened enough to drive me crazy...
>Friend picks up a book. "What's this series? I've never heard of it…"
>"Oh, that's ____! It's really good! I recommend it!"
>"Did you work on it?"
>"Yeah!"
>"Then I'll pass. You're just pushing it to get more sales. It's probably garbage."
I'm honest when I recommend something. I legit think that some of the titles I work on are amazing. Others I work on… not so much. But I'll let people know my honest feelings! Plus, I don't get a bonus or something if I book I work on sells well. I get paid a flat fee per book. There's nothing I get from good sales except the happiness that other people are buying something I love.

I never thought that entering the manga industry would mean my opinions go from neutral to trash in people's minds.
