I go to around 10 conventions a year and haven't really seen any very bad cosplays in the past year. this is from 2015. I actively look for bad cosplays too.

I always find bad cosplays so much better than good cosplays.

Anyone can buy a nice costume online or have one made. Seen one good cosplay of a character, seen them all. But, a bad cosplay takes true talent to make and true courage to wear. Bad cosplayers are the real heros.
