In late middle school I'd already passed my weeb phase, but you could tell that fanfiction/anime tropes had really really warped my perception of how you go about asking someone out. I bullied and nearly stalked this high school guy two years older than me. All those -dere characters might be cute in anime but that behavior translates to real life terribly. He and his friends made the mistake of interacting with me, egging me on. I eventually took it too far and got a fourth of my class involved with terrorizing this poor kid. Shit wasn't cute.
