This is a nothingburger counter example. There's more lighter skinned characters to cosplay than darker skinned. By statistics alone, no one would do black skinned characters as much as they will do a lighter skinned. There's no correlation there.

I think all of us criticize bad cosplay. And yes a different skin tone will cause some issues. Which is why Id think it weird for any light skin person to cosplay a Samuel L Jackson character (except for Fury cause he was originally white anyway)
