/cgl/, I need your help.
I originally posted this to my local lolita comm, but of course it's as dead as usual.

The other day I took two pairs of old Bodyline shoes to the cobblers for the first time -- SHOES178 in white and a pair of boots which they no longer have listed (baby pink, laceup, bows on the toes, about mid-calf height with a scalloped top and thick heels)
I needed to take in SHOES178 because the topmost buckle on the right shoe spontaneously exploded on me one day while I was walking, and I needed to get the boots fixed up because they have huge scuffs in them.
When I showed him the shoes that needed the buckles fixed, he told me "nobody uses round buckles anymore" and that all he had were squares -- not only that, but the system they used on the buckle (not sure how to explain it, but basically on the strap, there's a buckle with a hinge-like piece of metal underneath that snaps into a closure on the shoe) is too flimsy and that if I bought another pair the same thing would happen again.
When I showed him the boots, he simply said "Vinyl. You're not going to get ANY scuffs out of that."

So, /cgl/, is he telling me the truth or just bullshitting me? I've seen so many lolitas with the same shoes and boots as these, with nary a scuff or busted buckle. Not only that, but the guy came off as a lazy jackass anyways -- busted my shoes more than they already were because he kept grabbing and squeezing at them so roughly. ):
Please share any lolita shoes or cobbler experiences, or good places to buy durable lolita shoes at.
