It was never a style to begin with.
LARME as a magazine started out very clearly inspired by Gyaru and Otome. The entire idea was to let more adult girls stay "kawaii" while still looking their age.
The constant need of the western "community" to stick to the cookie-cutter patterns and colors is what made it fail so hard as a "style". They wanted it to be "larme-kei" when it was never "kei" to begin with.
You can't take the general idea of dressing cute yet trendy and make it a style, it's just what it is. being cute and trendy.
