I bought a loose set of hair from amphigory, I think? I just wanted the longest hair possible. All of it was sewn directly into the wig, and then styled. It took hours and hours to do but I didn't them to look clipped in like wefts. It probably wasn't the most effective way of doing things. It's been awhile, and some hair was clipped away, but I think I left about 4 inches of hair on the inside (caulked down so it would stay forever) which I guess would leave about 44 inches for the curls? I didn't need all of it in the end, but anything less than 35 inches probably would have been too short. You could probably buy an extra long wig and use the longest wefts on it, but that'd be expensive.
