Cheers gropey. Maybe you can clear up another item of confusion? I'm looking at a lot of old woodcuts from that time, especially Durer and Altdorfer, and it seems to me that it's not uncommon to see early Landsknechts portrayed without a jacket--that is, just in doublet and hose. Am I interpreting this art correctly, and would that be appropriate or relatively unusual? A lot of the resources I'm finding suggest that would be pretty scandalous. I'm also struggling to find much in the way of points in a lot of these illustrations. Had the fashion of the period left them behind? They seem ubiquitous at least up to the 1490s, but the stuff I'm looking at is unclear.
