Because we're soft. Everyone wants to be a winner, some of them all want to be the big hero, and absolutely no one will tolerate feeling bad. Part of the problem is how land use works which can limit some larger projects, but really it's all attitude. If you feel like having a laugh, google 'Knight Realms' - it's probably one of the best LARPs in the US right now but it's an absolute shit show. Costumes are great for a US LARP but it's got a bajillion tags and you quite literally pay 10 dollars for a single experience point, the thing's a fucking ponzi scheme but people eat it up. Much like DR, it's likely got a limited life span left, been going 15 years strong or something like that so I wouldn't be terribly surprised if it carried on for another decade.

This goose reflects my feelings about the absolute state of American LARP.
