Made-up rumors are always the best kind. Please, my friend, enjoy your salt.

/cgl/ used to be home to dozens of trips. Then things got out of control with rumor threads and stupid memes and people treating /cgl/ like an instant messenger. There were people who just posted tutorials/progress/etc., but as usual, a few annoying people misrepresented everyone else.

If you cosplay Kristoff, I would love you forever. The world needs more cosplay of the dudes in Frozen.

Haha, not even gonna touch this one. Surprised I posted this much today without anyone trolling me, considering how much /cgl/ hates trips now, so I'll still count it as a win in my book.

Join her! Who cares whose costume is better? You get to meet someone who likes the same character that you do, and if she's nice, she might be able to offer some tips on how to improve yours if you just ask. People will see photos of both of you after the con anyway, so you may as well be sociable.

She doesn't have as much combed forward as you do on that wig, though. Definitely worth trying the hair dryer trick, that will probably make the whole process easier for you.

I'm glad I'm not alone on this one. I adored the movie and I'm really looking forward to seeing some Kristoffs and winter Annas.
If I were to make Elsa's armpit cape, I would start with the designs drawn out on paper underneath the cape itself the way Angela did. However, I'd rather use sparkly/metallic So Soft fabric paint. It's washable, iron-able (not that you'd be ironing the cape) and goes on pretty evenly. Rhinestones will prevent it from flowing, and most fabric or acrylic paints leave sheer fabric with a crispy texture.
I would adore you for doing that artbook scan. The designs on some parts of the costumes are hard to see in the movie.

I like what you did with the braid, especially using hair to cover the band at the end. But I'm confused as to why you have bangs in your wig when Elsa has nearly all of them combed back.
If I may ask, where did you get your wig? If it's heat-resistant, try using a hairdryer along the roots while you pull the wefts back. Some heat should help shape them so that they naturally lie back the way you want them.

A lot of people don't wear lacefronts properly. You have to trim the lace very carefully along the hairline. Most people just hack it down to half an inch and call it a day. I've seen some immensely convincing lacefronts, just takes more work than some people like. But if you're making an ice dress, might as well go the extra mile.

I used to, when I was 16, because 90% of 16-year-old girls are bitches. One day I got over it when I realized that I was just jealous because they were having more fun than me in their duct tape armor while I was miserable and judgmental in my carefully sewn, painstakingly accurate costume. Now, I kind of look at the expression on someone's face or the tone of their voice more than their costume. If they're squealing constantly and getting all sweaty, I avoid them. If they've got their nose in the air, refuse to speak to people, and look pissed off because they're surrounded by ~peasantfolk~, I avoid them too. I won't lie, I do get tempted to adjust someone's costume or comb a wig now and then, but the quality of other peoples' costumes doesn't affect me in the least.

>> No.7267243 [View]

I have a big nose, so it looks like I'll be ruining whichever Frozen costume I decide to do. Put aside the fact that I'll very carefully choose my fabrics, spend hours getting the wig just right, and will applique or embroider all of the designs. It will be RUINED because my NOSE is BIG OMG.
Seems like there's a disproportionate amount of Frozen elitism compared to Brave and Tangled. Yeah, some people got nitpicky about the wigs for those, but I feel like there's more vendetta posts for Frozen. Is that just me seeing that? At least they get deleted quickly.

Can we have a "how to do ___ right" thread? So instead of people bitching about things being done the wrong way, we discuss which materials and methods are best for the costumes?
Personally, I'd like to see ice dress Elsas using lacefront wigs. Even Arda has decent lacefront wigs and sells matching wefts, so it's not too hard to achieve a more natural-appearing hairline.

This made me laugh. That's exactly what it is, and yeah, it's hard to show off in real life, now that I think about it. CG can make things flow around for no reason, but in real life, they all lie flat and are hard to see.

In that outfit, Anna has green ribbons in her hair. So those are ribbons, not weirdly green hair. Still looks kinda weird when they're curled for no reason, though.

Frozen cosplay thread? Frozen cosplay thread.

Ugh, I want to make that dress so badly but I'm OCD and would want to embroider every bit of design on the dress. And I don't have one of those fancy embroidery machines, so that would get tiresome real quick. I'll just live vicariously through the people that are already making it.

They're defending it because it's not that bad. You are overreacting. If a passable costume is all it takes to get you to pick up your torch and pitchfork, you definitely have some issues.
Sage for vendetta dramu, go back to having a bad attitude over on Tumblr.

If you really think you're so awesome at making costumes, why not make some tutorials? That way, you can help the people you consider ever so below you to improve and they'll stop committing what you consider to be war crimes. Or start making commissions and get a little asswipe money so you can go outside, socialize, and realize how petty your anger really is.
