It's Ok, I'm not mad, but I am disappointed.


Anyway. To anyone doing Mech costumes, check out the MSP from think geek, I just posted up a video of it in my suit. Working pretty well.

Also my thigh peices are on their second coat of sealant and after tonight they will be ready for paint. Hip Pods are also glued to the cod area.

PAINT!!!

Seriously. Just got all of these done. Started repainting my fiancee's Rescue armor cause of some paint errors the first time around. Also painted up my ankle armor and hip pods. Working now on her Cod piece to get it all ready by May.

Getting this thing in tomorrow hopefully. With this and a good microphone and amp I think most of my major electronics are going to be covered for my suit.

For those who don't know what it is, it detects when your walking and plays sound effects for it. Namely for me a "wrrrr clink" for every step I take.

Thank you, I really wasn't expecting that compliment, I think I'm snowblind to my project.

I attribute any seam hiding to about 3 things.
1: I've been working with foam everyday for about the past year, I wish I was kidding on this.
2: I've rebuilt those shins I think about 3 times now, so I know how they fit together etc.
3: A really sharp blade (Seriously, replace your knife more often, even if you think you do it already.)
4, 4 things I attribute
Drak over on the RPF gave a rather good tutorial for applying glue to the pieces, and since that it's helped tremendously with things overall.

I'm ehh, I'm not so egotistical to call myself cool, but I will say I'm at least eccentric. My fiancee however, she's the tits.

I always tell people I can't hear anything when I have a helm on. I lie. I can hear perfectly fine what that person is saying 15 feet away. I listen to all the drama, all the stuck up bitchiness that goes on at cons.
I heard all the nasty shit that is said ten feet behind my back. (Btw, I'm not a douchebag, I just fucking hate you.)

It's like my own voyeuristic/exhibitionistic stall, as well I love the attention I get from costuming.

And I eat up every fucking second of it.

Nearly done on the lower half of the rebuilt. Sadly I'm going to go ahead and scrap the thigh peices for this, I'm just not happy with them. I'll start on the new ones tomorrow.

Shins are nearly finished and look a hell of a lot better than my old ones, I also have hip pods now.

I have about 13 days left before an event that I need all this finished by.

On top of it all I'm also building my fiancee's Rescue armor that I'm trying to get finished by May 3rd for the IM3 midnight show.

Time's a tickin...

Please note: I am a good ol'boy from the south. Please note that the injuries I have sustained should warrant medical attention, not butterfly bandages and iodine tincture, which is what I do, like all the time.

I'll keep these all costume or general geekery related:
Have routinely sliced my fingers open, sometimes to the bone.
Dropped my xacto and had it embedded into my foot (quite literally sticking straight up, half inch deep)
Burn marks from hot glue, hot air guns etc.
Sprained ankles from various cons.
Brused two ribs from having a person bump into me, me fall, and hit a chair right in the chest.

Have a scar on my leg from massive hot glue burn.
Have a scar on my ankle from a electric screw driver dropping bit first on it.

Got a half inch scar on my face from a boffer sword fight that went horribly right.

It's weird, hobby knives don't hurt anymore. I think its mostly because people freak out when they get injured, at this point now I just barely feel it and its more of an annoyance than anything.

I've learned the hard way not to wear my ironman in a dealers room, holy fuck that was a bad idea from the start. Never, again.

Hometown con for me as well. I think slowly improving is the right thing to say about it.

There was one year where it blocked off 3/4's of the dealers room for horrible b-list guests. And Broder has way too much of a hard on for watching sweaty dudes throw each other into big, thick, ropes.

But at least they don't kick you out early, the party does die down fairly quickly though, but of its own accord, not because of the con.

Depends on the con. D*C is kind of cheating but it allows me to do pretty much anything I want. Great costume panels, Interviews from celebrities, 3 dealers rooms. After the dealers rooms end, 5 parties going at any one time, concerts till about 2-3 and booze flowing everywhere.

Basically any place that really doesn't kick you out after 8-9 o'clock and still has stuff to do.

Waiting? I just got this thing in this morning.

Everything shut down around 6-7ish. The only thing of importance to that con (the dealers room closed down before everything else.

Nono, this was a bad and boring convention. I had fun despite it, but trust me when I say it was through no help of the con. My money would have been better spent just hanging out with friends outside the convention. Oh wait, that's what we ended up doing.

So /cgl/ this girl i know wants me to go with her to invader con this year. I've never been to a con so is there anything i should know? Also she is planning on dressing as yoko from gurren lagann and she hasn't even watched the anime, just thought her cloths were cool. should i talk her out of cosplaying, since i wouldn't think you would wear an anime cosplay to an invader zim con.anything you guys can tell mme here?
