I actually agree. The lipstick wasnt intentional :< I had just finished shooting Catwoman so I had on a lot of dark red lipstick and i'd stained my lips, I couldnt get it all off since I shot this one right after.

cgl has been pretty creative lately with the negative comments. so why not.

This turned out so great, your skill really shows - there was so much potential for that fabric to look horrible.

>How did you get into it?
I was tired of wasting money on badly made costumes from China
>How old were you when you started?
17
>Do you have a job that involves it in some way?
Nope. I wish I did, but it seems every career that involves sewing is either really unsecure or low paying (or both)
>Did you have formal training?
Nah. Ive learned everything from youtube tutorials and watching friends work on stuff.
>How would one (me) get into this?
Get a cheap machine and just try try try! I have a Brother CS6000i and it's a great machine. It's cheap (150 on amazon) and works well as both a beginner machine AND an intermediate one. You can learn a lot from tutorials (Professor Pincushion on youtube is great) and taking things apart and putting them back together, like cheap old tshirts and stuff. ALSO LEARN ABOUT DIFFERENT FABRICS. So many older costumes of mine sucked because I didnt know the right fabric to use.

Pic related, this is one of the very first things I made by myself. It took me all night, I just bought whatever random ass fabric was the right color, and it looked like shit. Now, 4 years of practise later, I can sew entire costumes in 1 night that look like they took weeks. Practise really makes perfect with sewing!

My hair is naturally really frizzy and thick, so It's just easier for me to keep it short. Plus I have a really sensitive scalp so I cant deal with long, thick hair getting tangled. When I was a kid, my mom would use brushing my hair as a threat to make me clean my room or something.

I dont really see how that can even happen? Maybe the other way around.. But kuroshit isnt NEARLY as popular at TTGL, especially that grell outfit vs yoko.

Every fuckin' time. I wore Chie to FanExpo the same month the scott pilgrim movie came out and not a single person recognized me as Chie, but I had compliments left and right on my Kim Pine costume. Granted, P4 wasnt nearly as popular then.

Almost wore her to SDCC this weekend but made the smart decision of wearing something else.

>> No.7712004 [View]

Babbys first SDCC experience today. An interesting con, tbh i dont see why people bother coming from far away if they don't have a huge interest in meeting celebs, which I personally dont see the enjoyment in. Granted, I only went for a day so I didnt get the ~*full experienced*~

Was underwhelmed by the amount of cosplay but considering how hard it was to move around, i'm not surprised. I got really annoyed by how constantly I got squished by security guards because some d-list celeb was trying to walk around. Also, i-justines security guard body checked me (i was in costume) out of the way while they were filming something with the cameraman walking backwards. i'm forever going to be buttmad about that.

I'm just saying, their excuse of "we wont mail them because we dont want fake badges being made" is weak as fuck. If they were that worried they'd put more security features on their shitty badges.

That's a REALLY shitty excuse. Tons of cons mail out their badges. AX just refuses to put money in to their badges. Its just a piece of paper. Yeah, wow, they have the tiny "VOID" print, big whoop. Not a single person looked close enough at my badge to see it. Cons like NYCC and PAX make their badges out of thick plastic - AX absolutely has the money for that, they're just way too cheap to bother. Guess what, someone could easily get a badge thursday and print a bunch. Just as easily as they could if they got it a few weeks in advance.

Shit, they could add a large hologram and inforced ACTUALLY LOOKING AT THE BADGE or something. 90% of the time I went in somewhere I only half pulled out my badge and they rushed me in without actually looking.

tl;dr their excuses are shitty, they know people will still wait in the heat. Theyre just too cheap to spend the money on security features to allow mailing them out.

My very first panel was an Ace Attorney one. Out of us 4 panelists, one girl spent then entire time talking about her ace attorney costumes shes done. Every time one of us panelists tried to change the subject, even bluntly, she just talked over us about herself even more. it was a painful hour.

I feel really bad for the hotel staff though.

Did you commission it or buy it? There's a difference. Either way unless it was from ebay/taobao I dont think i'd ever suggest commissioning them again. Funny costume, but hearing you actually paid someone for that quality..

If i'm in a revealing costume, tbh i'd rather be hoverhanded than have someone throw their arm around my waist without asking. If they ask, I always say it's alright. If I dont have skin showing, it doesnt bug me as much. But i'd still rather someone ask.
