I wouldn't recommend a brush like that, I think that might be what's giving you extra problems! This is more what would be better, they're typically really cheap too.

You have to be really patient and start brushing from the bottom, and work to the top. Because how they're curled the bottom tends to get frizzy easier if you do it too fast (giving it a little trim in problem areas can work if you can't deal with it, but it's not needed per se). What kind of wig brush did you use? There are multiple ones hat are OK for use on wigs, the special wide toothed comb with rotating bristles, or a wig brush. I personally prefer to use a brush for this style. What you also can do to re define the curls a bit after brushing, is wrapping them around your finger.

On a more serious note (although I have done that a couple times), I usually either humor them and tell them it's Japanese fashion and carefully omitting mentioning that it's called lolita or if they ask me a question along the line of "are you in a play?" I just say "nope" and leave it at that.

I have the same bust size, and it surprisingly fits fine on me! The version that I have is the one with the weirdly small bust and I thought it would be completely unflattering because everything is still way too big. It actually looks relatively flattering and pretty nice :)

I have keratosis pilaris on my legs too, what I found to help is using (pure) aloe vera gel as a moisturizer. It's not very cheap and I have to do it daily, but it's pretty much the only thing that helps for me.

Auctioning off La Fee de Rose Noir because it doesn't fit me and my seamstress can't take it in without losing detail. Starting price is what I paid for it :)
