Demographic differences mainly.

Some people have LINE and have no interest in joining Discord.

Some people have Discord and have no interest in joining LINE.

I've been running the Naka meetups since 2016 and a solid LINE community since 2017 so I probably won't be changing anything in the near future. Another factor is activity, the LINE chat gets posted in literally everyday by most of the members while the Discord gets a few posts like every other month? Worst case scenario you chose one, best case scenario you join both.
You're welcome to join either, they're just two different environments with/ran by
different people.

I think I'm going to make a KC to-do/eat guide for Naka weekend for everyone traveling to the area. Let me know of any hidden gems I should add to the list, any suggestion is fine.

People on Twitter will change their name to something like "Ashley @ NDK18" OR "Justin @ Colossalcon" that's my favorite route because it's easier to see their post history and determine if I want to befriend them.
Check con hashtags on Instagram too.

/cgl/ friend finder is good for finding specific regions but is a little harder if you aren't a girl (understandable)

Con threads are 50/50 because it's either drama or everyone saying "meetup when?" With no actual meetup.

Facebook groups have biggest concentration of local weebs, idk if anyone that actually posts in them is what you're looking for though
